Get a Manager Guys!

That local music is on the up is indisputable. Quite a lot of artists are making a better than decent living out of music, in fact it is more than possible that it has created more 'employment' for out of school youths than any grand government scheme! What we cannot run away from however is the fact that there lacks a professional setup to this 'industry'.By professional I mean proper structures that will help even more artists thrive not just a handful.I find it disturbing that a lot of artists do not have managers, promoters or accountants. I am not suggesting that local artists should have a huge contingent of hangers on. I'm simply saying that for the music industry to have sustainable growth there needs to be support structures that will assist artists. While being a jack of all trades is all well and fine, local artists should remember that the complete expression is jack of all trades master of none.

Local artists now have a dedicated platform to audiences the world over. Tailor made for the local music industry needs, this interactive website carries artists' profiles, photo galleries, an online music store, sound and video clips, entertainment news and commentary, among many other exciting features.Already industry heavyweights across various genres such as star jazz performer Lister Boleseng, Kora nominee Dikakapa, Gongmaster, the queen of gospel Tebby, among others, have signed up.It targets not only recording musicians but studios, record labels, instrument players/session musicians, producers, musical instrument sellers, distributors, sound hire entities, sound engineers, promoters, and just about everyone working in the local music industry (it is therefore in part a skills database aimed at facilitating easy flow of business between stakeholders in the industry).
